A masterpiece

My all time favorite skydiving t-shirt . . . I love this!

The notorious Gulch t-shirt from around '75. Design rendered from a photo of an actual mummified human arm, stuck in the pea gravel at Casa Grande complete with reserve ripcord. Conflicting stories about this one- If I ever learn the facts, I'll post it here. One thing I know was that the arm traveled to the Nationals that year with a local 10 way speed star team and they used it to serve up the potato salad at the awards ceremony...

My first successful t-shirt, done in partnership with John Posson. I think we sold 100 t-shirts in about 30 minute, then took orders for 100 more. Needless to say, Star Wars had just hit the theaters.

The Perris Thanksgiving Boogie ´79 I was a starving college student in San Diego when I did this one. The design had to double as an art class project and a way to make some bucks at the same time. I got an A and the Conatser's wee DZ store sold out in an hour, keeping me in beans and coffee for another couple months . . .

Leaping Lizard ´81 Client: Jim Handbury / Advanced Airsports, Elsinore

"Jaws" Perris Easter Boogie ´85

Client: Sandy Reed Year: 1985 This design was for a program to drop test square reserves at high speed with heavyweight dummys out in the California desert. A vintage B 24 was used, Norm Kent filmed the carnage.

Client: Bill Booth / Para-Waterski Nationals, Deland Year: 1981 Due to the type of ink thinner I used years ago, some of these designs I've saved on non-cotton sample material have bleeding problems, this is one. The blue pigment bled into the yellow, but the basic design still looks pretty good.

Perris Valley Turkey Boogie ´83 Eat, Fuck, Skydive! Originated with the late-great Richard Hayden & his 10 way team "Airtrash" in Elsinore. They screamed it every time they exited the plane (like "ready, set, go!") After the tragic crash of Spike's Beech in Taft, I wanted to commemorate my friends with this design- that the spirit of Airtrash will live on. And they do! Visit www.airtrash.com Note: This design was altered ´91 (modern jumpsuit & one more color added).

Blue Sky, Black Death '84 I did this shirt because it had to be done (o: And I don't care what anybody says, BSBD was started by Jack "Flash" Ballard in the Elsinore Ghetto, 78/79. The best selling book "Blue Water, White Death" (pre-Jaws) had been out, and he got the idea that he would start a cheer. It was often heard at sunrise in the Ghetto trailer park, Flash peeking out his window and yelling "Blue Sky!", with the reply yelled from Joe Morgan's trailer "Black Death!".
