AUS-FL26. Australia's Darling Downs located in Queensland has on average a 2% slope. The farm land is subject to severe flooding and erosion. As a consequence farmers use very broad fallow strips that use 30% of the land to prevent erosion. Vetiver has been shown on these lands to be very effective against flood erosion, at the same time using less than 5% of the land. Because the land is so flat hedgerows were planted in straight lines as shown in this image. (lower left)
