All of these walls would have been covered in plaster and usually painted white, often with a design as well.
There wasn't just one great house, but perhaps dozens in this one valley. Each able to house hundreds, but were not main living quarters.
The rubble is from a large canyon wall that eventually fell and destroyed many rooms of this great house.
