On the way to Crater Lake - this is Klamath Lake, which I drove beside for about 30 minutes.
Another view of Klamath Lake
This place needs a bit of work...
Note the tree that thinks it is art...
This tree got broked.
A canyon I passed in the forest.
Nice view of the canyon & forest.
Don't be silly, if you fall, you will die, there is no "OR". "Injury AND THEN death" is what the sign should say.
My first view of Crater Lake... whoa! Took my breath away.
Me, on the edge of a 1000 ft drop... um... I was excited, what can I say?
Snow? It's 85 degrees and sunny! But yes, some roads I passed were still closed due to snow.
Some nice hikers I passed volunteered to take this shot.
Looking down 1000 ft... the water is so blue it's amazing.
Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the US.
It's a tree!
Nicely framed shot of Wizard Island on the lake.
More looking straight down..
I was hiking up the side of a mountain.. This was on my right. Wow.
And this is me, taking a breather (it was a steep hill). A passerby (heading down) took this for me.
Looking up
Nice view across the lake - 6 miles from shore to shore.
20 square miles of what is accepted as the clearest large body of water in the world. Some days you can see up to 130 ft under water... amazing!
The far side of the lake. I didn't get to go over there.
This is a shot on day two. Note the water, much calmer, now reflecting the mountains and island. It was a perfect day.
Twist...
Note (if you can) the groundhog (or whatever it is) in the middle
More cliffs around the lake.
Blue, blue, blue! The temperature of the water ranges from 32 deg to 65 deg. At 150m deep, it is a steady 38 deg all year.
Looking back on part of the trail from the lodge in the background.
Again, looking back on the trail.
Looking out into the forest.
More forest. It was so quiet this day. I was on the trail for an hour without seeing another person!
Looking down a bit, the trail, as you can see, was on the side of a mountain.
Me! Forest! Mountains!
Yet another shot showing where I had come from.
Looking down the edge of the trail.
This tree doesn't really seem attached to the ground...
Wizard island on the left, the incredible floating tree on the right...
One last stunning shot.
