Trees for the Future

One of the local NGOs that a lot of PCVs work with is located in the Kaolack region. I spent a couple days with Omar, the local manager chatting about and helping him plant - you guessed it - trees. Also, some of the best sunsets I've seen and captured on film in his village.

Welcome Party #2

The PCVs got together as our sub-regional zones of Sokone/Toubacouta to invite our new neighbors for a 2nd welcome party at a local campement. Festivities (which you may realize are pretty standard for our PCV parties) include pork, beer, and lots of swimming.

Perma-Gardening!

I've never been one to have a green thumb, but for 3 days, all the PCVs had an intensive workshop on perma gardening. I'm hoping to use these new gardening techniques with my community, schools, and hospital in my town. It's fun to get dirty!

Volunteer Visit: A 4-5 day visit with a current PCV. The goal was to get an idea about what the PCV does and in what type of environment. However, during Ramadan, nothing much happens. Even less happens when it rains... Her dad is the cutest Senegalese guy I've met this far.
