Downtown Scarecrow Contest

Downtown Toccoa Businesses and Main Street Toccoa are celebrating fall in a new way this year. People visiting downtown will see that local businesses have scarecrows in their windows or in front of their business in honor of the fall season. This is the inaugural Downtown Scarecrow Contest hosted by Main Street Toccoa to decorate downtown. Main Street Toccoa and the downtown businesses invite everyone in Toccoa to come downtown to see the scarecrows! This contest has shown the wonderful creativity of our downtown merchants and has made downtown more enjoyable for all.

Currahee Military Weekend

The Currahee Military Reunion Weekend is held each year on the first full weekend in October and serves to honor the men of Camp Toccoa, show appreciation for the sacrifices they made in WWII, and celebrate their commitment to America.

Board and Committee Member Reception

It takes more than 60 unpaid board and committee members to keep the City of Toccoa functioning, and the Toccoa City Commission would like to take time to give them a pat on the back for a job well done. City Commissioners will host a reception on Tuesday, June 9 at City Hall to thank volunteers who serve on nine boards and committees. Volunteers from the Airport Authority, Historic Preservation Commission, Downtown Development Authority, Toccoa Planning Commission, Alcohol Beverage Control Board, Northeast Georgia Housing Authority, Toccoa Initiative for Community Housing, Citizens Advisory Panel on Litter & Blight, and Toccoa Ethics Review Board will be recognized at the reception.

On May 27, 2009 at 11 a.m., the Stephens County Historical Society held a ground breaking celebration for the Currahee Military Museum expansion project. This expansion, funded with SPLOST dollars, will enable the museum to host larger conferences and more items in the museum.

Downtown streets in Toccoa were walking-room only on the evening of April 23, as thousands ventured their way to enjoy great food, fun, and live entertainment and music. A Taste of Toccoa celebrated its 19th year as a fun-filled family event, and the backdrop never looked so good.

National Train Day

The City of Toccoa joined with Amtrak in commemorating the 30th anniversary of the historic Crescent service as part of National Train Day with a special event at the train depot on Alexander Street in Historic Downtown Toccoa. Toccoa Mayor Ron Seib, city officials, and citizens welcomed the train as it made its regular stop in Toccoa on its way to Atlanta and, eventually, New Orleans. The train arrives in Toccoa at 6:15 a.m. The train stops in Toccoa again, heading North to New York at 10 p.m.

Henderson Falls Toccoa, GA

This waterfall is located in a park near Historic Downtown Toccoa. It's owned by the city and features a playground, outdoor ampitheater, pavilions, covered bridge, old ice house, lots of open grassy areas (great for frisby with friends or fetch with a dog), tennis courts, butterfly garden, a nature walk, and, of course, a waterfall and river.
