This is the capital of the community (gmina) and the centre of Lithuanian culture in Poland
We are near Wizajny. It is already another district but still considered as a part of Lithuania Minor. Lithuanian minority here is much more smaller then in Punsk.
Wind power plant near Wizajny
As you can see on the map this is a point, where Poland, Lithuania and Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast) meet each other. Poland and Lithuania are in Schengen area so anyone can cross the border in any place (black colour). Crossing of border to Russia in this area is strictly prohibited however we saw no guards. Between 1990 border between Lithuania and Kaliningrad Oblast was internal border of Soviet Union. On the other side, between WW2, there was no Russia here. Lithuania and Poland were on the east of the map while Germany was in the west. The prewar border between Germany and Poland is currently border between Polish administrative provinces.
White stone marks the point where Poland, Lithuania and Russia meet. There is no Lithuanian border stone here, only Polish (white and red) and Russian (red and green).
Emblem of the Russian Federation
Poland is behind me and on the left. Russia is just straight ahead. Lithuania is deeper on the right.
Another closed road which between WW2 was internal road in the Third Reich.
This is a typical German road with trees on both sides.
Poland is behind me, Russia is in front of me.
Bridges in Stanczyki. They were constructed in the 20's of 20th c. on the eastern outskirts of Germany.
They are in bad condition but private owner tries to renovate them
The second bridge was badly renovated. It has nothing to do with railway bridge in the woodland.
