Design flaw number 2, or as someone put it, accidental improvement. No 0603 4.7uF 12V+ caps exist, but 1206's do! And yes, those pads are supposed to be connected. Design flaw number 3, wrong footprint for switching diodes (board was fabbed before parts ordered, had to make do!)
