TIBET Day 9 - July 13 - day hike to high Tsurphu kora
The yak herder brought us hot water in the morning. We walked 1 k to a bridge festooned with prayer flags, and past Tsuphu Monastery, down a road and up a ridge, very high. Eventually we arrived at a high house on a cliff edge (15,381'), where 2 women lived, and invited us in for hot water and candies. They were boiling water on a little stove and the walls of that room were black. Leandra gave them a little Canadian flag pin. The trail kept traversing to a large white building (15,331'). It started raining and we descended past a gigantic teal chorten with a gold top, and visited the main building. A monk showed us through the meeting room whee he touched us each on the head with a prayer wheel or something, as a blessing. They shut the door behind us and locked it. Upstairs there was another chapel where the monk gave us each prayer shawls.
