After weeks of frustration we finally had the new track upgrades sealed. Thankjs to Vernon Contractors, Hebs Contractors, Stevensons for the support to get this job done

The Great Race, 100 and 50 km race 2012
100 and 50 km arce held at Muriwai Beach. The course was 10 km laps. The sea was rough, so plenty of sweepers to watch for, the wind started 15+ knts but dropped considerably for the last 30 km. It also swung at one stage where everyone had to tack along the beach. Photos by Marg, which explains why there are a lot more photos of number 14 kart than any other competitor

Saw Cirque De Soleil "O" one ight during the lead up to the event and then spent 2 days after the event staying at the Luxor and enjoying the glitz and glamour.

It was meant to be really windy, 40 - 60 knts but this didn't eventuate. Barry, Wayne and Russell used the 30 knts to try out 2 metre sails prior to Worlds. Learnt a lot and now feel very comfortable if we have to sail above 30 knts at Ivanpah

Ran a few warm up races then finished with Orca Memorial Trophy race. This was run in 5-6 knts so a lightweight race after last time where we sailed in 16 - 20 knts. After two 5 km laps the top 10 race on for a final lap to decide the overall winner.

2 days of racing at Ardmore Airport. 37 entries in 3 divisions. Under 85 kg, over 85 kg and C division for "casual" sailor. 8 minute races over a 1.3 km track, mostly windward/leeward.

NZ Open 2011, day 3 and 4
Racing reverted to divisons and with the 20 heavies split into 2 heats. 35 races completed on a day where there was 8- 10 knts of wind all day. At the end of day three 17 races completed for each division. Day 4 started with some 4 metre sail practice before the wind moderated and 5.5s were again used. 4 more races completed to give 21 overall and everyone got 2 drops.

Because of a loss of the previous days racing the lights and middles raced together, all heavies (21) raced together and S heavies raced by themselves. This meant each divison ended with 10 races on the day.

NZ BAI Teams Racing, August 2011
9 teams raced each other for the NZ Teams racing event. Light winds postponed the start but then we raced a full round in about 9-10 knts with everyone racing each other. Finished with an all in race after which the wind dropped out again.

NZsailing.net North Island blokart Champs 2011
North Island Champs 2011 held at Ohakea airbase. 84 entered, just under 80 competed, all had a good time in varied conditions. Started light on Saturday but Sunday had some wind, some rain with both long and short courses. Great weekend finishing with prize giving Sunday night. The Great Race
Finally enough wind to start the Great 100 km and 50 km race. Big waves coming up the beach and slime in big patches hampered the race whicvh was finished at 60 km. To many big waves pushing everyone up in to the soft sand. Blokarts, wet weather gear, clothes and vehicles all covered in the slime which took several washes to rid the smell.

NZ Secondary School Champs and Auckland Champs
43 blokart sailers contested the champs held at Bruce Pulman Park Auckland. Late wind on Saturday allowed for 4 rounds of the short course and good wind all day Sunday meant using a longer course and another 6 races for each division. Secondary Schools was dividied into two divisions, under 60 kg and over 60 kg.
