Universal City 1914
1914: March: Carl Laemmle's representative bought four tracts of land from the Lankershim Ranch and Water Company for $165,000.
The four tracts of land (Taylor, Boag, Davis and Hershey ranches) consisted of 1,800 acres.
with other area east of Lankershism Blvd - total was reported as nearer 2,000 acres. Only the portion of the ranch land was below an elevation of 630 feet was used for film making. The 230 acres Taylor ranch on the northern section of Tract 272 became the site of the main plant operations. The Back Ranch was located on the northern portions of Tract 277 and 276. Tract 277 would soon become a residential development, today called Knoll Community
