LE Girls Day Out

USC mentors plan a fun day for girls in the Life Enrichment Program. We learned about the priceless treasures we are because God created each of us. We learned about how important our relationship with Christ is to help us navigate life, peer pressure and develop loving relationships. We decorated cupcakes and took them to a local fire dept. to thank our firemen for all they do. We finished the day by decorating journals to help us talk to God. Thank you to the great mentors and friends that made this day so amazing!

Life Enrichment - Music Program Oct., Nov. 2010

Students from Shawnee Mission West High School volunteered their times and talents to offer an introductory music day to students at USC. Students were able to experiment with brass, wood wind, and percusion instruments. Thank you to all the student leaders that served to make this opportunity possible at USC.

Topeka & Brown v. Board trip

The second Exposure Tour for the after school discipleship and leadership development program took students to Topeka, KS for a tour of the capitol building and the Brown vs. Board of Education Historical site. Students enjoyed the hands on exhibits at Brown vs. BOE and we were blessed with a beautiful day of fun and learning.

Life Enrichment - Law Tour

Part of the Life Enrichment discipleship and leadership program involves taking students on Cultural Exploration outings providing opportunities to broaden their knowledge and open new doors to their future. This trip included a visit to the Wyandotte County Municipal Court House to meet with the Undersheriff, Disctrict Attorney and two District Court Judges. Students then toured the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and Campus.

Life Enrichment Team Building

Students in the Life Enrichment after school discipleship and leadership program participate in activities to help them learn how to work as a team and communicate to overome challenges. This is part 2 of a three part exercise called Lost on a Desert Island. Students have to overcome challenges as their cruise ship sinks, their islands are overrun by wild animals, and they have to survive, work as a team, and figure out how to make it back to civilization.

Curtis Peterson - Lawyer Visit

Attorney Curtis Petersen visited the after school discipleship and leadership program on Friday, October 15. Mr. Petersen did a presentation on the Law profession and introduced the students to the fine art of debate. Students were given topics to research and put together key points to discuss in a debate. Thank you to Mr. Petersen for his inspiring presentation to help prepare our students for upcoming field trips to Wyandotte County Unified Government, UMKC school of law, the Topeka Capitol and the Brown vs. Board of Education Historical Site.

Soul Food 2010-2011

The Wednesday night out reach discipleship program is in full swing. We are averaging around 65-70 students K-12 grade each week. Thank you to all our volunteers and mentors that make this evening happen. Continue to pray that God would open the hearts and minds of our students as He draws them close.

Pembroke Hill students serve at The USC

Pembroke students packaged books to be given to all the students at Mark Twain Elementary School, trimmed hedges, cleaned, and put together bags of sports balls to be given to Mark Twain Elementary School for recess. Wyandotte High School Football pre-game meals

Again this year, USC is hosting pre-game meals for sports teams from Wyandotte High School. Thanks to some loving adults from our community, we now have a Food Team Ministry to support these pre-game meals! USC partners with other ministries to provide speakers to address relevant issues to these teen athletes and share the good news of Jesus.

Shatto Milk Co. August 2010

USC strives to provide culturally diverse experiences for our students. Today we took a trip to Shatto Milk Co. What a day on the farm. Students learned about the milking process, milked a cow by hand, brushed the calves, and sampled all the yummy flavored milks. What a privelege to witness a great family owned business at work and see where milk comes from straight to the store shelf.

SOH USC Plants Soil Day 2010

The last day at Sanctuary of Hope focused on plants and soil. Students collected leaf and soil samples, did leaf rubbings, tested soil content, planted trees, and enjoyed God's beautiful creation.

Magician at USC

Devin Henderson, magician and inspirational speaker entertained families at USC. With his quick hand and quick wit, Devin fascinated students and adults. Devin also shared some of his favorite stories of Jesus with the students, using magic to help tell the Bible stories of the feeding of the 5,000 and the miracle of Jesus turning water into wine.

Morning Star Ranch 2010

USC students spent the week of July 19 at Morning Star Ranch making new friends and being Awakened to what Jesus has in store for each of them. American Royal Camp July 2010

USC students attended the American Royal Camp at Rock Springs in Junction City. For many of our students this was their first camp experience. Students were excited to visit Kansas State University, canoe, ride horses, explore nature, and meet new people. We all had a wonderful time. Check out our trip!

Service Project MI Group July 10-16

Reeman Christian Reformed Church youth and counselors spent a week partnering with USC to serve USC and other ministry partners in KC, KS. Some of the work done includes: Mission home interior demolition, weeding community gardens, helping at Rachel's Teahouse and Hillcrest Transitional Housing and much more. Thank you for your partnership in Christ, for loving God and serving your neighbors.

SOH USC Bug Day 2010

Second Summer P.A.S.S. (Play, Art, Science & Savior) day with Sanctuary of Hope. This trip we learned all about BUGS! Students spent time collecting bugs, viewing bugs with a magnifying glass, sketching bugs and creating our own species of bugs. Another fantastic day in God's creation in the heart of Kansas City, KS.

Summer Soul Food 2010 Bryant Apts.

Summer Soul Food at Bryant Apts. kicked off with a bang! We played games, read books in small groups and had dinner together. It was amazing to see all ages gathered in small groups reading books. We served about 145 for dinner and gave away about 90 books! Praise God for His many blessings, for new relationships, a beautiful evening, and for all those from Lawrence Wesleyan, USC, SCC and Bryant Apts. who helped make this an awesome experience. Leaders are Readers!
