This is the simplest Stabilized Compressed Earth Block (CEB) making machine (CINVA-RAM) was first developed by Raul Ramirez of the Inter-American Housing Center (CINVA) in Bogota, Colombia in the 1950's. This is the most advanced of the methods for using earth in construction. In this technique earth is mixed with cement (30:1) is placed in a metal block and compressed by about 30%. It is as strong as brick and much better heat insulation. See http://www.serenelake.com/environment/construction/earth-intro.htm here for more
This is a house made from the the CINVA-RAM machine. The only finish that was done was to paint it. Guess what the paint was. Dissolve red earth, add lime (hunu, CaO2) and some latex gum. Pretty cool eh.
