Israel: Broken Promise Land
In 2008, I visited Israel for the first time on a trip assembled by nif.org, a progressive human rights organization. We had incredible access and a dense itinerary, that included Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Nazareth, the Dead Sea, and the turbulent West Bank city of Hebron (since closed to tours). It was life-changing and affirming. Such a rich, fascinating, alive place. Worthwhile visiting for anybody, no matter your religion or lack thereof. I can't wait to go back and dig even deeper.
