Parque Arvi

Arvi National Park (Parque Arvi) is a recently completed outdoor adventure land just half an hour from the city of Medellin, Colombia. The best part is, you don't need a car to get there! Medellin's public transportation system, the Metro Cable, has direct access to the park and the journey to get there is half the fun! You float above the treetops while listening to nothing but the wind and birds and after about 15 minutes, you've arrived in the park. There are hiking trails, horses to ride, sites for camping & picnics, and 2 "parks within the park" that have countless different activities for any adventurous soul. Parque Arvi is truly an amazing destination and one of the reasons that Medellin is such a wonderful city.

The Cabana

Shhh! Don't tell, but we've found a great spot in Medellín for live music! Twice a week the house band performs Argentinean and Colombian music, and local musicians of all types stop by to join in on the fun. We won't tell you where it is, but we'll take you there!

Guatapé and El Peñon

Located just a short drive outside of Medellín, the city of Guatapé rests alongside a sprawling reservoir with hundreds of forest-covered islands dotted throughout the water. The best view of the beautiful and unique scenery can be seen from atop El Peñon de Guatapé, a 200-meter monolith that appears to rise inexplicably out of the earth. The town and the nearby monolith can be visited year-round and make for both an excellent day trip and overnight destination.

Adventure Sports in Támesis

In the charming town of Tamesis, two hours south of Medellin, is an adventure sports haven that can satisfy the needs of every adrenaline junky. There’s nothing quite like rappelling down a waterfall in Colombia to impress your friends back home. If that sounds too extreme, there are more conventional options such as rock climbing, river rafting, inner-tubing, and traditional rappelling.

Colombia's Coffee Region

Coffee lovers, consider Colombia your Mecca. Located in the geographical center of the country in the Colombian Andes, the Colombian Coffee Region is the perfect place to learn about coffee production set against the backdrop of gorgeous green mountains. In the charming town of Salento, the slow pace, quiet streets and unbelievable views make it the perfect place to sip a cup of coffee or pick your own coffee cherries on the hillside plantations. For scenery you won’t forget, take a hike through the Valley of Cocora, a sanctuary for Wax Palms which reach between 150 and 200 feet tall. Finally, end your night back in Salento playing Tejo, a traditional Colombian sport similar in concept to horseshoes, but with clay and gunpowder.

The South American games took just blocks away from our home in Medellin. These games are like the summer Olympics, only these games include additional and super awesome sports such as ping pong, bowling, and our favorite, Roller Dancing!
