He wraps his instructional session by showing me the Sundogs motion sickness bag, which as he put it, "is located in the seat pocket behind me"...just like being on a plane.

In the lobby at Elk Ridge Resort you can rent snow shoes, hockey skates and sticks, cross-country skies, boots and poles. There are a number of trails right outside the lodge, so it's so simple to rent your equipment and go.

I decided to try out cross-country skiing this day, so I got suited up and headed outside.
Right in my path to the trails, I came upon these four elk just a few steps outside of the lodge. I guess that's why it has its name.
Once I found an elk-free trail I snapped on my skies and was on my way.
I was really picking up speed!
