Recent RGGR Photos

They are doing a good deal of landscape work - cleaning up from winter - and while the trains are running, there is nothing special being put on the tracks. In addition I found out that Leo, the gentlemen who maintained the trains and tracks has left the employ of the park - disappointing news. Leo did an outstanding job of keeping the trains running, he will be missed. All of that is being cared for by members of the ABQ Garden RR Club until the park can replace Leo.

2012 Calendar

There are four calendars here...the first are general shots of the Garden RR, the second and third are of the Cumbres/Toltec in Chama NM and Durango/Silverton in Durango, CO and the last is Boomer's Monkey Circus Train running at the Garden Railroad.

B-17 in Town...

Over the past couple of years EAA's B-17 has come to town to offer rides...and it will be here the week of our balloon fiesta. I don't plan to ride in it, but we did go out to the airport to take a look at it. It is in really good, and clean, condition. But it is really small inside.

Corrales Pet Parade - 2011

Each year Corrales kicks off the Harvest Festival with the Pet Parade - this year was the 26th year of the parade. As is the case each year I have attended I go over to where the parade is being assembled, that way I can get pictures of the parade's pets without having to rush as I would during the parade...So, here is a combination of before and during parade photos.

Took a trip recently to Chama NM for the Cumbres/Toltec, and Durango, CO for the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gage Railroads. I did not ride the trains this trip, only took pictures.

Corrales Pet Parade 2010

Each year, at harvest time, the village of Corrales conducts a two day Harvest Festival. On the first day of the festival, early in the morning, we have a Pet Parade. Any and all pets and livestock are invited to participate...and there are awards in various categories, some of which you will see here. In some cases, the pet owner dresses up to look like their pet.

Chama Today

Took a trip up to Chama New Mexico to see how things are since the trestle burned. (http://www.krqe.com/dpp/news/local/northwest/train-trestle-burning-outside-of-chama) The trains are leaving from the Cumbres Pass Station instead of the yard in Chama. The trestle is between Chama and the pass. They trucked a train around the burnt trestle. The yard was very quiet; there was no activity there at all.

My brother and his wife came to visit us during the fiesta and we could not have asked for better weather. The Albuquerque Box was working perfectly and we got lots of pictures and had a great time.

Trinity Site/VLA Visit

We visited the Trinity Site - which is open only twice a year to the public. Trinity Site is the location of the first Atomic Bomb Test. The Very Large Array (VLA) is a Radio Telescope located in central New Mexico.

Tent Rock

These pictures were taken at Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rock National Monument in New Mexico. The monument is only about 30 miles Northwest of the house. Not far from Cochiti Lake. Alpine Loop

In July 2003 Rado and I made a trip up to Silverton Colorado to drive the 'Alpine Loop' There are only a few months of the year when the Loop is accessible due to snow. Flight of the Stearman

Rado and I took flights on the Stearman from Double Eagle Airport, west of Albuquerque, in July 2001. The flights were Christmas gifts from Rado's wife, Sunny. What a great gift! Each flight lasted about 30 minutes. Since it is an open cockpit we waited until it got warmer to take the flights.
