Walking to the entrance to Ocean Dome.
Entering the beach area after changing.
That "sand" is really made up of tiny white pebbles about the size of cherry seeds.
They're able to open the entire ceiling above the beach, but they only opened it a crack when they started a brief 10-15 minute surfing show (they're able to make medium sized waves).
During our visit to Ocean Dome we ran into some of James' students (the Japanese kids on the left).
On both ends of the dome are water slides that wind down fake island mountains (can you see them?).
With surfing over, people wait to be let into the water.
Then everyone rushes into the water at the same time.
The island beyond the buoys that no one is allowed to go near.
A little girl is buried in the fake sand.
So long Ocean Dome! You were too expensive to remain open, so they shut you down. (That must be why the lifeguard is slumped over. He's sad to see his beautiful beach shut down. [actually, the water is both heavily chlorinated and disgustingly dirty, the water slides are so so and can have waits of up to 20 minutes per slide, and the ceiling is as dirty as a seventeen year old canvas gazebo cover...also, regular admission is $25, which seems a bit pricey for an indoor beach that is a mere 15 minute car ride from a beautiful outdoor beach.])
After Ocean Dome, we went for lunch at a really good sushi restaurant (whose name I can't remember). Here's Sara and James.
Me, Kavita, and Michelle.
Fatty tuna...mmm! This was the first really good sushi that I ate on Kyushu.
Closeup of the tuna.
Shrimp with scorched mayonnaise on top. (I think)
Unagi!
Salmon w/ scorched mayonnaise on top. (I think) ...that's all for my pictures, i hope you enjoyed them!
