Welcome to the Penthouse!
We are on the 5th floor, or in this photo the second row from top, far left window.
Our teeny, tiny elevator. Very old school. And, as we have unfortunately discovered, the door is so old that it doesn't like to close on the 5th floor. This causes problems because the elevator doesn't work without the door closed, so we often had breathless neighbors knocking at our door when we first moved in, telling us we forgot to close the door... again.
The control panel. No stopping this elevator once it gets going. Or choosing more than one floor to stop at.
The front door of our flat, from the inside. Notice the huge lock that runs from top to bottom.
The first room is an entry way/ dining room, with lots of closet space. To the right are bedrooms and to the left is the living room. Behind it is the kitchen, bathrooms and my bedroom.
The living room. On the wall, are photos that the owners of the flat took of their travels around the world.
We put an extra bed in the living room to double as a couch. No palm tree this year, but plenty of plants.
The other half of the living room.
The dining room table, more pictures and the entry into the hall with the bathroom, bedroom and kitchen.
The two bathrooms.
The shower, sink and washing machine room. The mirror stretches all the way into the shower... kind of strange...
Our nice, although very slow washing machine. I think it takes about 2.5 hours for one load.
Our teeny, tiny WC (water closet).
Going into my room, to the left of the bathrooms.
My room!
I have the master bedroom with the double bed, closet, desk and bookshelf.
My desk and closet. I have pictures of friends and family hanging on my mirrored closed doors.
My super cool curtains. The original ones were this shimmery orange so, I added a turquoise blue over the top. They look very cool from the inside and outside.
The kitchen is opposite my bedroom. Great for midnight snacks.
Our kitchen. It is so much bigger this year. It has a table and three chairs, a fridge, a dishwasher!, and a stove. The oven is great this year. The door on the far left leads to our super cool balcony.
Becky's very narrow room, with a wall of floor to ceiling closets, a desk and a bed.
Karin's Texas room. The owners even left a cactus so that she could feel right at home.
