20th Anniversary Tiananmen Vigil
June 4th 2009 marked the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen massacre when the Chinese government ordered soldiers to dispel students peacefully demonstrating for democratic reform in Tiananmen Square, Beijing. Guns and tanks were used to reclaim the square. The number that died is unclear but is probably in the thousands, maybe even close to ten thousand. An estimated 150,000 others attended a vigil held in Hong Kong to remember this event.
