Mexico City
Off to another adventure! This time with my wonderful, almost 17 year old son Forest. We left Los Angeles at 12:30am after a long day of getting there, we arrived in Mexico City tired at 6 in the morning. By 7:30 we had Pablo offer to be our guide and were off in a taxi to see the ancient Aztec pyramids. After breakfast, we stopped to see Angel, a desendant from these people, show us the many uses from the Agave plant as paper, needle, fiber thread for fabric, dyed by geranium flowers and the various types of volcanic obsidian rock which is what the family business carves into an amazing array of masks, statues and other replicas of ancient items. Forest and I head up the steep slopes of the Sun pyramid to be greeted by a dog who seemed to posses the demeanor of a sage or mystic. The other pyramid of Teotihuacan is the Moon and we walked to it and the other structures near it. Tired, we headed for our connecting flight to Puerto Escondido. To be continued...
