Kumartuli, the potters and clay modelling artists colony on the banks of the River Hooghly in north Calcutta is your typical tourist destination. There's no doubting it, the place has a very different energy and feel...very vibrant and yet extremely laidback...very positive too. It's world of its own, what creative arts settlements must be. There's a lot of controversy about its renovation, and the displacement and rehabilitation of the stake-holders. Yet, it's always a photo enthusiast's joy.
