Eco transport
Eco transport park (rear view)
When we started the coppice was extremely dense.
Jem in dense cover
It was warm in the sun, despite ice on the ponds
The lesser spotted Jem is rarely seen, despite its vivid blue plumage, because of it's preference for dense thickets and reedbeds.
Cool, wet and misty up in the forest today
Talking - always an important part of the job!
Sorted rods stacked at the roadside ready for transport
Sorted on the left, unsorted on the right
Unsorted rods
Bundles of sorted rods
The coppice is bare - a contrast to the dense growth yesterday.
A few young oaks were left as standards. The two trunks in the centre of the frame appear to be a 'phoenix oak' - growing from the wreck of one long since felled or fallen.
Healthy looking hazel stool
Another healthy stool
Closing up the gap in the hedge
An aristocrat in the place of yesterday's workhorses.
Billhooks and bicycle
The gap in the hedge closed up
The end of a good weekend's work.
