Signed Kim. Enamel on goldtone. L 3.3“, W 4.70 oz. This massive pendant is chosen as the rarest of signed pendants not only because I have seen only this example, but also because I would surely have remembered it if I had seen another.
Signed Joel. Enamel on goldtone. L 3.3“, W 1.41 oz. This is one of a class of pendants that may date back to the 1950's or before. They are often enameled in pastel colors and finished on the back with dots or fine lines. Most are rather scarce. This design is memorable for not having any eyes. I have seen only this one, and one someone sent a jpeg of.
Signed Gold Crown Inc. Unjointed. Enamel on goldtone / silvertone. L 3.4“, Weights 1.76 / 1.86 oz. I have seen only one of the yellow version and three of the blue and red version. Both the above were purchased on eBay since 2005, but there is little doubt that these are vintage pieces.
BOTH: Signed Gold Crown Inc. Plastic on goldtone. Seen just this one of each. LEFT: L 4.0", W 1.69 oz. Three segments. This is NOT missing an eye on the left. RIGHT: L 3.0", W 1.59 oz. The wings and feet are part of a metal frame that encircles the belly. There is a hole at the bottom of this frame that may have supported a tail segment (as on the piece on the left).
Signed Original by Robert. L 2.3“, W 0.95 oz. This is a very collectable signature - perhaps this motivates holding these back hoping for an increase in value. This is the only one I have seen - I bought it at a thrift store many years ago.
Signed Hensen. L 2.6“, W 1.23 oz. Goldtone, glass, faux pearls. Pin / pendant. I have seen no other pendent that looks anything like this one. I could be an import.
Signed Nettie Rosenstein. L 2.2“, W 1.87 oz. Seen only this one. But again, the desirability of the signature may result in others not appearing in the venue (swapmeets, eBay) where I have shopped.
Signed Trifari. L 4.8“, W 2.42 oz. Four segments. Black on goldtone. Rare. Very memorable - only this and two others offered on eBay in the last ten years (2013). Perhaps this huge pendant was issued late in the fad and did not sell well. There has been a silvertone example for sale on ebay during 2014-2015.
Signed D'orlan. L 2.7“, W 0.73. Enamel on goldtone. This is the only example I have seen of this one. The signature is Canadian - they had another owl pendant (an oval eyes derivative) that is scarce, but I have seen a few of those.
Signed Nadia (small letters). Kukui nut belly, cut in half laterally. Silvertone. L 2.6“, W 1.15 oz. This piece was acquired about twenty ago. Since then I saw one offered on eBay in 2009, but no more since then (2013).
These three pendants are signed SAO (or SA?) - a signature I specifically collect. So I can attest that the above are all very rare - I have only seen one of each. Their lengths are, from left to right, 2.5", 3.3" and 2.0" The two on the right have irridescent plastic belly cabs.
These pendants are signed Tancer II - a signature that appears on so many vintage owl pendants that we have put them in their own web album. All the other Tancer II owl pendants are fairly common - but the above are very rare. They have three jointed segments and are 3.2 inches long. The pendant on the left could have originally had eyeballs, but I doubt it. Perhaps I could have overlooked one of these back in the 1990's, but since then I have kept a look out for them and only seen one, a blue version that can be seen in the "Tancer II" web album.
Both these pendants are signed LG in an artist's palette. This designates Louis Giusti, late Italian artist. Giusti designed at least six other owl pendants, the most often seen being 7 inches long! For the two above I think I have seen only these examples. They are both about 3.9 inches long. The one on the left probably has lost its tail since I have collected another with a proper tail. I will get around to replacing this photograph sometime. The one on the right weighs a hefty 2.5 ounces.
Signed Hollycraft. Unsegmented, length 2.0" This is a fairly desirable signature. Since the above photo was taken several years ago I have seen another goldtone one and collected a silvertone version. It also appears as a pin.
Both signed Capri, length 2.2 inches. Other than these, I have not seen another Capri owl pendant that I remember.
Signed Jomaz. L 2.2“, W 1.21 oz. Goldtone with enamel and rhinestones. Custom chain. I did not see any of these in the 1990's but have seen three in recent years.
Signed LIN. L 1.7“, W 0.45 oz. Enamel on goldtone. Perhaps the only I have seen. A sharp item, not to be forgotten.
These are both signed: I (heart) OWLS and Rawcliffe Pewter, P. Davis. The pendant on the LEFT is dated 1986, and most of the writing is difficult to read. The pendant on the RIGHT is dated 1982 and the writing is easy to read. I have not seen any other of these, and wonder if similar designs were produced for other years.
Signed Hobe. L 2.3", W 0.54 oz. I have only seen this one, at least in the last few years.
Signed BJ. His and her goldtone owls. L 2.9“, W 0.79 oz. Acquired in 2006, saw another in 2008.
