The Choir & Presbytery taken from underneath the Octagon.
A pile of cushions for people to kneel on when praying. Some of them embroidered with the names of local villages.
The South Transept, taken from underneath the Octagon.
The Nave, taken from underneath the Octagon.
The corner of a Victorian stained glass window, on the forst landing of the South West Transcept.
A sculpture for the Millennium called The Way of Life, which cunningly disguises a blocked off archway to a part of the building that fell down.
The Octagon seen from the top of the West Tower.
The Octagon again, and miles of East Anglia countryside.
More countryside, the green bit at the bottom of the picture used to be the monk's garden.
Ely. If you look hard enough you should be able to see Waitrose.
The Octagon, Ely, clouds, endless countryside.
The shadow of the West Tower over the High Street.
The Bishop;s Palace. don't get me started on that!
Two towers on the South West Transcept, with inverted roofs to collect rainwater to make water was supposedly the weakest beer in the land.
More stained glass in the South West Transcept.
I could get a bit obsessed with stained glass if I tried.
A modern day version of the Virgin Mary, in the Ladt Chapel. She looks a bit agitated about something. Perhaps it was the fact that Cromwell spoilt her lovely chapel. The pig.
There's a small chapel within the cathedral, and this is some of the decoration inside it. Seems very over the top for an Englaish cathedral, verging on the Gaudi.
A tomb in the cathedral. Whilst most of them showed a figuring lying back with hands clasped in prayer this one seems rather decadent. He seems to be resting there as if to say, "go on, amuse me...".
A chubby cherub.
The Choir (that;s the name for the part of the building) and the Presbytery.
On the roof on the way up to the Octagon - the Lady Chapel is on the left.
Gargolyes and turret on the Lady Chapel.
The Lady Chapel roof.
Paintings around the Octagon.
The floor of the cathedral, looking down from the Octagon. Yikes.
More painted panels.
And a few more.
The stained glass at the top of the Octagon.
Looking down on the stained glass inside the cathedral, from the Octagon.
The stained glass around the Octagon - viewed from outside!
Ely. And endless East Anglia.
A gargolye on the Octagon.
A gargolye on a turret. I got a bit obsessed with them.
The end of the cathedral and endless East Anglia.
More gargolyes.
And more.
The end of the cathedral.
Turrests.
More turrets.
Told you I was obsessed.
Turrets, gargolyes and the West Tower.
Turret and gargolyes!
The West tower. An hour previously I'd bee standing on the roof of that!
And again.
Yep, more.
Bored of turrets yet?
More of Ely.
And another!
Stained glass around the Octagon.
The Octagon viewed from the floor of the cathedral so you can see how high up I was!
The Octagon.
The West Tower. Blimey, it looks high!
