Bagdad FL Casablanca Gala

Photos by Bruce Graner/bgraner@pnj.com Accompanied by pianist Sean Deitrich singer Kathy Lyon performs some of the soundtrack songs from the movie Casablanca and many other favorites from that era as part of the Bagdad Village Preservation Association Spring Music Gala. The gathering, held Saturday night at the Bagdad Village Museum, honored the 70th anniversary of the award winning film Casablanca.

Pensacola JazzFest 2012

Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival, Feb 2012

My dear friend Harold Becton took these wonderful photos! I performed at the MAJF with a wonderful group, Dan Lamaestra (piano), Peter Revell (bass) and Dominic Smith (drums). It was wonderful to see so many of my friends in the Washington DC/Virginia/MD area thanks for coming to my show!

Pensacola JazzFest, 2010

I was a featured performer at the 2010 Pensacola JazzFest, on a beautiful spring day in historic Seville Square park in downtown Pensacola. On stage with me: Greg Torres (piano), Edmo Lanier (bass), Don Tucker (drums), with special guests Greg Lyon (guitar), Roger Villines (trumpet) and Calvin Farmer (sax). Al Martin and Kathy at RagTyme Grill

In Nov. 2008, I was invited to join legendary Pensacola pianist Al Martin for a regular Sat. night gig at the RagTyme Grill in downtown Pensacola. Now coming up on a year, the gig continues to be a popular event, and Al and I have developed a really fun working style -- very loose and fun, definitely jamming on all types of jazz and pop standards.

Husband Tom and I have been heading over to Bluz in Destin every Wed. night that we can, for the awesome Blues/Jazz jam session, hosted by Edmo and Fritz, with a great bunch of musicians joining in every week. Jazz Society of Pensacola, Misc.

As an active member of the Jazz Society of Pensacola, I've been at lots of great events: picnics, Gumbos (what we call our monthly concerts), and our big event, Pensacola JazzFest. I've grouped a lot of miscellanous photos here, while keeping the Jazz Jam photos and my July 09 Jazz Gumbo photos in separate albums. Jazz Society Jazz Jams

Once a month, the Jazz Society of Pensacola hosts a jazz jam session, and we always have fun. The series started in 2008 at "eat!" restaurant in Pensacola, and in Jan. 09 moved to Jambalaya's in Gulf Breeze. Jazz Gumbo, July 2009 featuring Kathy Lyon

The monthly "Jazz Gumbo" (so named because a cup of seafood gumbo is included with the ticket price) presented by the Jazz Society of Pensacola, is always fun. Great music and a chance to socialize with friends and other jazz lovers -- but especially fun for me in July 09, as I was the featured performer! I was joined by Bobby Van Deusen on piano and Don Tucker on drums, and in the second half of the show, invited several musicians to sit in: Tom Lyon on Hammond organ, Blane Butler on sax, and Roger Villines on trumpet/flugelhorn. I was delighted with the size of the crowd and the enthusiastic response. JSOP people are the best!
