This 18th Century Historical Lighthouse on Lighthouse Hill - Bavuta Gudda built by Hyder Ali and Tippu Sultan is landmark in Mangalore City - now non-functional lighthouse in Tagore Park has library at its foot. The Postal Department - India Post - has used this lighthouse on its Permenant Pictorial Postal Cancellation which is available at Mangalore Philatilic Bureau 575001 of Karnataka Postal Circle
