Green Heron Takes up Residence

This juvenile Green Heron now lives with us. I inadvertently find this out by wandering too close to it (without seeing it) and it then gives its kinda ugly sqwack call to let me know I've intruded. I see it daily at the pool, hanging our along the negative edge where it can get its feet wet and pick out insects floating by--and chase the occasional lizard down. For the last week of our 2010 Micronesia juant (21-28 Nov 2010), we stayed on Yap at the incomparable Manta Ray Bay Hotel and dove with the associated Yap Divers. Both first class operations--highly recommended!

We start our journey to Micronesia for the third time (1995, 1998, and now 2010). It is a long exhausting two days: we overnight in Houston and change planes in Honolulu and Guam. Plus, we lose one day going across the international date line.

Blennylips Desert Road Trip

5 - 15 October 2010 The aim of this trip was to visit family and friends in St. George Utah and Albuquerque New Mexico. The drive bewteen was an amazing tour through the heart of polygamy country, the Painted Desert and the Grand Canyon. Not to mention the Taos Pueblo. Oh yes, and there was some sort of Balloon Festival going on in Albuquerque...
