What can we do on a lazy afternoon. Go fishing or building a chinese 30m rotary dipole. Lets do the last one.
€ 6,10 for a 7m fishing rod.
Remember Prince '' purple rain '' song
I used heavy Legrand colrings 31921 to attach the rods to a 5 mm tick 1 meter alloy L shaped bracket. A waterproof box hold the home made 1:1 balun. The antenna wire is taped each 25cm to the rods.

Home made 1:1 balun. Teflon wire is used.
The box is holded with only one SS bolt to L bracket.
14m long . Antenna is ready to haulded up at the tower . 3 hours to build and some 30 euro's. Each half element in wire is 6,85m long.
24m lattice tower. The chinese 30m rotary dipole is at 20 m. The Cushcraft 40cd2 (shorty forty) 40m beam and Force 12- C31XR is down at the moment. I'm busy building a 40M moxon beam.
The 30M rotary dipole up 20m in the air.
This motorized winch you need if you work with big antennes. Can be operated with remote control or manual if electricity fails.
Cloudy with some winds.
Another view of the Chinese 30M rotary dipole
UP UP ... yes just worked IS0R on 10.115 with 50 watts. They just started cq'ing on 30m.
I have to move the dipole from the tower to measure SWR and bandwith.
The miniVNA for measuring SWR. The cabinet is holding my SO2R homebrew switchbox for 8 ANT-2 radios. 7/8 Coax and controlwires go undergrounds to the house.
680gr for 7m. I hope it last some storms . I'm using isolated black multibraid tinned copper wire 1,5mm² for antennawire.
Made in China.
On each end/start of the rods i put some layers of vinyl electricity tape by 3M

SWR curve
The Chinese rotary 30m dipole at 21m. The 18m tower is located in the backyard some 60 m from the house. It also support my trusty KLM KT34XA. The rotor is a M2 RC2800. This tower is made of full iron tubes

Looks good. Screencopy at the tower with IG miniVNA software for the miniVNA.
3/08/2010 it is broken just at the L brace.
I have rebuild the dipole but had no time to take a picture. Stay tuned ;-)
