A Day in the Park
Now that it is High Summer, my girls like to dress appropriately. Three of the four red-heads, Julia, Bailey, and Katherine Alyse, laid claim to the white lace dresses, and prepared for a Major Outing. But first, they needed to make sure they were the most stylish little girls around; new hats were in order! So all the girls pooled their allowance, and, clutching their favorite fashion magazines, trotted off to the Dollies’ Milliner. Once there, they were all talking at once, rapidly turning pages, and excitedly pointing at pictures. The milliner managed to calm them down, and got them to balance what they wanted against how much they had to spend. The girls finally settled on three new hats: a plain one with pink ribbons down the back, and an elaborate white one with an enormous bow and white roses (both from McCall’s, May, 1908), and a cunning little number with a daring up-swept brim (from The Delineator, June, 1905).
