Sustainable Agriculture in Haiti's Central Plateau (at Mouvment Payizon Papaye/MPP)
In the central plateau of Haiti, first a look at the city, Henche; then at the village, Papaye; and then, we enter the lives of the independent - and collective - farmers of MPP. I show the sustainable agricultural methods they use. You will see gardening using old rubber tires, the collections of nitrogen beneath animals' pens, special plants & trees, a collection of cisterns that save & cleanse water. You will see animals grazing, the innocence of happy children (these children do not beg; they are a rare), and a lush valley from a distance. Next, I show a man-made lake/reservoir, & 1 old farmer who has been with MPP since the start in the 1070s. He could not get seeds due to usury: MPP tried to create a credit union; this did not succeed. Next, the rich valley up close, a valley of rice & many plants, anything can grow. Then I show the place where area-appropriate seeds & seedlings are cared for. Next is the radio station & its famous female DJ, a health clinic and a meeti
