Cyclist crossing southbound on Strachan heading toward Martin Goodman Trail.
Looking northbound on Strachan from Martin Goodman Trail. The start of the bike lane is visible (barely) beside the white car but there is no way to legally reach it.
Looking northbound on Strachan from the Martin Goodman Trail. The start of the bike lane is more visible in this shot.
The approach to the Strachan/Lakeshore intersection from Martin Goodman Trail. The only legal way to cross is to dismount and use the pedestrian crossing on the west side. Note the red no entry sign on the south east side presumably because no vehicular traffic is permitted (there is no traffic signal for vehicles exiting MGT northbound) however motor vehicles can regularly be seen exiting here, turning right onto Lakeshore.
Looking northbound on Strachan from Martin Goodman trail on the east side of the intersection. There should be a pedestrian crossing here but there isn't. You can see a nicely landscaped pedestrian area on the other side of the intersection but you can't reach it without crossing Strachan on the south side, Lakeshore on the west side and then Strachan again on the north side.

Strachan/Lakeshore intersection looking northwest. This intersection is clearly designed first and foremost for motor vehicles.

Looking westbound from the south east side of the Strachan/Lakeshore intersection to the pedestrian crossing, the ONLY location where all cyclists and pedestrians exiting the Martin Goodman trail are legally permitted to cross.
Close-up of the extremely small sidewalk pad which is the only legal place for all pedestrians and cyclists to cross Lakeshore at Strachan. The pedestrian light is only activated when pushed. We observed several pedestrians and cyclists who didn't realize that, didn't get a green light and then had to wait a very long time for the next crossing cycle.
Martin Goodman trail (Remembrance Drive) looking westbound at Strachan. Note that white arrows have been painted OVER the Martin Goodman Trail indicating to motor vehicles to drive right over it!
Martin Goodman Trail/Remembrance Drive overlap confusion. Not only is this shared space not clearly demarcated letting cyclists and motor vehicles know where they should be but the arrows and yellow lane markings lead motor vehicles directly into what is exclusively the Martin Goodman trail on the east side of Strachan (motor vehicles are only permitted to the left of the bollards and barricades where the black car is.) I observed a car drive from Remembrance Drive right onto the Martin Goodman trail east of Strachan and was then immediately surrounded by angry cyclists. The driver looked confused, rightly so.
Close-up of the confusing yellow lane marking, bollards, and barricades that make it unclear where motor vehicles are supposed to be.
Close-up of the bi-directional arrows on the Martin Goodman Trail/Remembrance Drive looking west. The eastbound arrow is painted right over the Martin Goodman trail markings.
Looking east from Strachan at the sidewalk. It looks like a bike path.
Looking west from Strachan at the sidewalk beside Lakeshore. Extremely narrow, especially beside such a busy road, and strewn with utility poles.
