Day before departure: 8 hrs spent @ MCC.
Leon seems fine. Harry seems cold. It was cold.
Context: Brenda is eating a chocolate covered doughnut. Harry: Brenda, sweets! [She had given up sweets for lent] Brenda looks down at doughnut while Harry holds out hand.
Harry happily takes a bite of the doughnut. And proceeds to finish it.
Aw, Curtis is laughing hard!
Notice how the guys all seem to have 3-4 burgers. Blech.
National Civil Rights Museum, Memphis, TN.
Lorraine and her motel.
Waffle House - literally in the middle of nowhere.
Learned: Lorraine likes to call her "sunny side ups" ... "sunshine." Apparently, it made the server do a double take, "What did you say?"
Baton Rouge Dream Center! (LA)
Packing the van to go on the first outreach.
Note: they're not praying. But they are congregated around the trashbin.
Notice the height difference. We were trying to get Curtis to stand up straight.
I ruined a lot of shirts.
We're probably reminding Curtis about his actual height. He seems to be standing a bit straighter in this picture.
And we're off to our first task with PJ leading the girls!
That's right. =) Trash pick up. Whoever had the most amount gets a special prize.
Boys. They like the wilderness.
Meanwhile, the girls still to the parking lot area.
Debbie discovers a crawfish's home.
HPC arena.
Window windex-ing. Guys were outside doing some hardcore manual labor that resulted in Harry receiving many scratch marks on his legs...
Brenda likes her Clorox wipes.
Lorraine is wiping away Debbie's face.
Or rather... they're rawr-ing at each other.
Jump!
Nicole is small.
Liz is tall.
They would be playing basketball... even after their manual labor-ing.
Leon flies!
And ... he flies again!
Harry just runs.
It was apparently a 2 on 1 game. Debbie & Lorraine vs. P. Jimmy.
And... occasionally, you get people crashing into each other. It's funny what a ball can do.
Who's gonna catch it?
Apparently PJ. (Meanwhile, Leon practices his flying (or maybe landing) skills again.)
I like how they're kind of lined up.
All sweaty and gross after playing basketball for a good hour or so.
Nicole is strong.
Installing sprinkler heads (I think?).
Leon loves to give hugs.
Curtis is learning to accept them.
Ty's expression. =)
Curtis and our huge bottle of hand sanitizer.
Vivian really likes pink.
Harry looking legitimately confused at the inside out trashbag.
Dear Brenda, statues can't eat.
Curtis explaining something to Debbie, even while his hand is in his snack bag.
What follows are some interesting pictures...
Harry displays his alligator (or crocodile..) hat.
I'm eating his hamburger hat. I really liked that shark (besides the fact that it came with two people puppets =( ...).
Harry and his corner.
These were really warm. They could have served as mittens.
While everyone else is talking to others, Hong sneaks off to chase a pigeon or two.
Ian refused to cooperate.
And again.
I always like these pictures where you see the subject of another camera and the photographer.
Brenda tries the alligator hat.
Hong tries the alligator hat.
He's slouching again.
Matt displaying the hat.
Reception area.
Inside the auditorium.
Stage and floor area.
24-hour prayer.
Body worship.
Skit. God is watching from afar.
Saving Sandy!
PJ talks.
Mark talks.
Visiting the levee/bridge.
At this point, it finally stopped pouring rain.
Painting the dream center!
Ninja. ...
Matt opens the gate magically.
Or so we though.
Lorraine got yelled at for the next 10 minutes about her model pose.
Vision Night @ HPC arena.
Elmo rings, oh yeah.
Gelato!
Parking lot cleanup.
Look how many bags of leaves we got!
It's our water! (Harvest)
Debbie and Harry dancing by the off-ramp from the highway.
Kelly tries crawfish for the first (and only, probably) time.
Midnight outreach.
6:30 in the morning.
Group picture, original.
Attempt at lightening picture.
Girls.
Guys. Notice how they're so ... lined up instead of grouped together.
Last farewells as we drive out.
Sandy doing some stretches at the gas station to wake herself up.
We were asking questions. I asked Curtis to define his life using a mathematical function. He came up with this instead...
