White orchid photo study 1-28 and 29, 2011

I have several orchid plants that bloomed and then lost all their blossoms. Now they are all coming back to a new round of blossoms, with this one leading the way. I've set it by a south-facing window and used my Panasonic on Friday and my Casio on Saturday to try a variety of shots. Here are 19 that I decided to post, with comments along the way.

IFPC 10-21 Birds

Paula and Carol brought four birds from the Avian Reconditioning Center in Apopka to our In Focus Photo Club meeting this evening. Scarlet, Callie, Henry and Gordon are used to people and are their "educational ambassadors". Kathy and Martha were kind enough to bring some dropcloths to use as backdrops and we had a very productive evening "shooting" our feathered friends. Boston weddings favorite shots

My cousin's son, Brian, married Madhuri in two ceremonies on May 21st and 22nd at the Taj Hotel in Boston. I was delighted to take nearly 1,000 shots during the two days. Here are 316 of them.

Faith's big weekend - May 15-16

Faith Lutheran commissioned its latest class of Stephen Ministers at all three services this weekend. Then on Sunday, we celebrated God's gifts to our church and school of several staff members celebrating significant anniversaries of service. Great weekend! God is indeed good!

August 2009 DeLeon Springs field trip - In Focus Photo Club

Seven of us from IFPC traveled to DeLeon Springs State Park for a delightful morning of photography (including a boat ride, where we had the boat and its crew to ourselves - thanks, Captain Frank and 1st Mate Helen!), followed by lunch in the Old Sugar Mill Restaurant. Anita Doebler's 100th - Let's have a party!

Handbell concert July 6, 2008 - St. Luke Lutheran Church ringers

What fun, to have all this youth and energy and talent sharing their God-given gifts and the fruit of much practice and commitment! This group gave a concert at Faith Lutheran on Sunday, July 6th. It was the last of their season, and for four of them, the last of their "career" with this group, since they are heading out to college. Their director, Leslie, did a wonderful job with them. There was great quality, technique, and some quirky moments thrown in just for fun! Thanks, ringers! SDG!!!

Fireworks over Lake Eustis - July 4th 2008

Wow, I had a great vantage point this year for fireworks on Lake Eustis. I was at the edge of the lake, with oak trees providing a lovely frame for the first few shots. After owning my Canon for several years and taking tens of thousands of shots (yes, actually), I finally discovered the "fireworks" setting. Our next camera club meeting has "Red, White, and Blue" as its theme, and I'm sure of one shot and debating between a couple of others for my display photos. Thanks, Eustis and all the corporate sponsors, for a great show.

Minter Gardens 2008

Minter Gardens, in a town called Agassi about 65 miles east of Vancouver, BC, is in my opinion a preview of heaven! My sister-in-law and I spent a delightful afternoon there in May 2008, and I took more than 200 photos. Here's a sampling. Do you get the feeling that I love (I mean, LOVE) tulips? Incredible!

Joshua and Megan - Wedding

My niece, Megan Alicia Illsley, married Joshua Edward Sateia on Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Delray Beach, Florida, to the delight of both families! Chris and Carrie Werner Wedding

On Friday, September 7, I was pleased and honored to be invited as a guest to the wedding of my godson, Christopher Werner and his bride, Carrie. The wedding was held in a most unusual setting - a "wedding canyon" near Chicago. This former rock quarry has been transformed by an enterprising family into a wedding wonderland, with numerous features designed to accommodate a variety of needs. It was a wonderful occasion, with no problems except the mosquitos to detract from the joy.
