Sabarimala

Sabarimala - The pilgrimage is a symbol of love, equality, and devotion. 2012. Erumeli petta thullal a ritual dance at mosque en route to Sabarimala Erumeli, an important pilgrim center situated about 65 km from Kottayam. Erumeli Sastha Temple (Kochambalam) and Erumeli Mosque is situated here, facing each other. Erumeli mosque is dedicated to Vavar Swamy who is considered to be the companion of Lord Ayyappa. The pilgrims worship the mosque also. Erumeli is renowned for Petta Thullal (Erumeli Pettathullal or Erumeli Petta Thullal), a ritual dance performed by the Sabarimala pilgrims.

Sarpam Thullal is a spectacular ritual dance performance done to appease the snake gods in Kerala. Sarpa Kavu (meaning Abode of the Snake God) is a small traditional forest seen in Kerala state of South India. This untouched small forest usually have idols of Naga Devatas and Naga Devas (snake gods) and people would worship them. This was part of Nagaaradhana (snake worship) which was prevalent among keralites during past centuries. It has been practised by Nairs, Ezhavas, Arayas and many other tribal, non-tribal and costal communities all over Malabar Cost practises serpent worship in south India.

Kovalam is a beach town on the Arabian Sea in Kerala, a state in south India. KOVALAM BEACH. A world-famous beach of Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) city, Kovalam has been a favourite haunt of tourists since 1930s. Lovely coconut palms fringe the golden beach. A rocky promontory and three crescent beaches are the major attractions. Foreigners throng Ayurvedic parlours that have sprung up all over the place. There are also yoga and meditation centres. Kovalam was brought to the public eye by the Maharaja of Travancore. [1] The European guests of the then Travancore kingdom discovered the potentiality of Kovalam beach as a tourist destination in the 1930s. However, Kovalam shot into limelight in the early seventies with arrivals of the masses of hippies. That started the transformation of a casual fishing village of Kerala into one of the most important tourist destinations in all India- the Kovalam beach. It is a beautiful place in Kerala.
