Redmond substation fire of June 16th
I was minding my business until the helicopter noise persisted for a few minutes. After that, I ran out with my camera and saw Chopper-7 hovering overhead, the KOMO4 helicopter getting into position, and the KING5 helicopter flying in to circle around. Something was happening, and happening close-by. I learned what it was from the kirotv.com home page. Five minutes later I was on my bike rushing to the scene.
The fire, seen here, was of a transformer, and it was localized to that one transformer. It burned for about an hour, most likely because the fire equipment at the scene could not deal with burning oil. Eventually a fire truck from the SeaTac Airport arrived for the job, and the fire was quickly extinguished.
