New Mexico for Pam and Paul 2007
A Labor Day Weekend trip with hiking friends Pam and Paul Hoyt to northern New Mexico. Drove up to El Porvenir campground outside Las Vegas on day one. Day two we hiked up to Hermit Peak from the trail which starts in the campground, then went into Las Vegas for dinner. After a second night of camping there, we headed back to Las Vegas, stopping briefly at Montezuma to soak our feet in the hot springs, before spending the rest of the morning checking out some of magnificent Victorian homes, historic hotel, and train station in the downtown area. Then it was on to the Salman Raspberry Ranch for lunch and to pick berries, before moving on to the historic Cleveland Roller Mill, which only operates Labor Day Weekend. Then we drove over to Bandelier NM, where we camped for two nights. On day four we explored Bandelier, and on day five we headed back to Tucson, with a stop at Soda Dam in Jemez Springs. It was a really fun trip!
