Alley Loop 2013

Famous nordic marathon that goes through alleys of beautiful Crested Butte. Loads of different distance races, kids races and of course COSTUMES!! This year even included a fat tire bike race the day before and a pub crawl in the evening. Definitely a must for us North New Mexicans - weekend of fantastic skiing and trails - definitely worth the beautiful drive (5-6 hours from Los Alamos).

NM Cup/Low O2 Challenge 2013

Enchanted Forest XC Ski and Snowshoe Area is the most gorgeous set of trails. Mountain biking and running in the summer and UNBELIEVABLE xc skiing and snowshoeing in the winter! We are very lucky to be within 2 hour drive of it (from Los Alamos). You could NOT find a better place for winter adventures, fun and training. Everything you might need you can rent or buy at the base lodge! It really is fun for everyone! Check out the events listed on their page www.efxc.com. Their famous Just Desserts Eat and Ski is on Feb 23rd this year. Great way to get your friends and family into trying xc skiing and snowshoeing if they've been resistant!

SWNSC Skiathlon 07Jan12

Free fun little event of skiing a lap classic style on our trails followed by same lap skate style. Thanks to over 20 volunteer hours of grooming (and some shoveling!) trail was safe, skiable and start/finish was possible from point A. The trails are looking good thanks to all the snow fence efforts, shoveling and grooming. Thanks, everyone! But let's hope this weekend's snow storm pans out as we do need more snow to keep the front hill and point A skiable.

Some photos documenting the post-fire trail recovery and hazard tree removal project by club members. The project was huge for the club, and much of the project didn't get very well documented. This is just a small sample of the work that took place to get the trail back open for the 2011-2012 season.

Pajarito Trail Fest 2011

Great event put on by Petra of www.fitfunfeminine.com. This year the proceeds went to Pajarito Trail Recovery and Las Conchas Fire Trail Recovery funds. 10k, '15mi', and fun runs for kids: 100yd dash and 1km.

Just Desserts Ski at Enchanted Forest 2011

Best idea EVER: have local restaurants and residents of Red River make fabulous home made desserts and let people xc ski/snowshoe from table to table of these treats for a day. Ahhh. Oh! And then vote the best ones! What fun! Usually last weekend of Febuary. You MUST check out this event if you havent been yet!

Pajarito Ski TT Jan2010

Time Trial start 10k or 6k just for fun on our awesome little trails! Thanks to Tom B. for timing and Clay and John B. for grooming. The skiing was awesome, nice and wide skate lane, very smooth. Classic track was good too, although no track out in the meadow part. Around 20 people participated including some of our Albuquerque members. Results are up on our homepage under the Race Results+ tab.

THE Birkebeiner, Norway 2007

The only Birke ever cancelled in Norway other than the few during Nazi occupation. It had to happen the one time we went there. Sigh. It was still totally awesome.
