Bluegrass
"You make us look so real when you do that [plein air (outside, on location)]." This was the comment of the executive director who asked me in 2005 if I would come paint at "Swinefest," a barbecue plate benefit held to raise money for the Arts Council of Wayne County. So I went, not having a clue what it was I would paint that day. And, lo! Before my eyes, stood a bluegrass band on top of a flatbed trailer! "Now," I said to myself, "there's a subject that won't be walking away in the middle of my painting." And so, I proceeded to paint them. Five paintings sold that day to attendees of the event. The remaining two paintings that you see here, are what was left. These have since sold, but I look forward to painting more of the same. I can't begin to express to you how much the music means to me when I'm painting. I maintain, the better the music I hear, the better the painting I do.
