Enchanted Highway (Dona & Heidi's Great Adventure)
After packing the car and leaving Columbus, 2 hard days of driving got us to Bismarck ND, where our real vacation began. On Monday, May 26, we set out for Teddy Roosevelt National Park, North Unit, but changed our plans on finding some wonderful folk art along I-94 and a country road down to Regent, ND, where we met the artist. Huge metal structures were strung along the road, known as the Enchanted Highway, from I-94 to Regent, North Dakota -- the artist's attempt to put the small town on the map and entice tourists.
After winding through some back roads (and finding some good birds, including a spectacular short-eared owl that quietly flew along the road ignoring us), we got back on the interstate and headed to Teddy Roosevelt National Park (next album).
Regent, North Dakota. The artist's attempt to put the small town on the map and entice tourists.
