Divers from Ponte de Lima
Ponte de Lima is a small, quiet and beautiful town in the north of Portugal (district of Viana do Castelo). It is an historic place, whose name comes from the river Lima, which bathes the town. Ponte=Bridge, so literally speaking these kids are divers from/off Ponte de Lima :-)
The bridge itself is around 30 metres high. After each dive, they must swim all the way to the shore (10m), then walk up to the bridge and on it to return to the diving point: the top of a carefully chosen arch where the river flows over a 2 to 3 meters wide soft sand bank (the rest of the river flows on solid rocks!). The journey back to the diving point takes roughly 5 minutes, but it doesn't deter these young kids from jumping over and over again from the bridge, giving the tourists something extra to enjoy in Ponte de Lima :-)
