Greetings from Romania!
To get to Bucharest, Romania, we took a train from Istanbul, Turkey. We had our own cabin with bunk beds so we could sleep during the 19 hour train ride!
We could look out the window and see the front of the train pass through the countryside.
These are some country folks we saw from the train in Romania.
In Romania, the traffic looks a bit different than at home!
In Bucharest, there is the second biggest building in the world. The largest is the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
This is a picture of what Romanian country folk looked like in the olden days. We saw this in a museum.
These are some of the Romanian children we saw at the museum. They had traditional costumes on.
They wore scarves on their head and the clothes had colorful stitching.
Their shoes looked like this.
We went to an outdoor museum to see how Romanian people built their houses. The roofs were made of tree branches and were very slanted so the snow would not stick.
They were very creative with tree branches - they wove their fences to look like baskets. We had never seen that before!
Their houses were sometimes very colorful. They told us that this color blue keeps the mosquitoes away!
They made beautiful carvings to decorate their doors.
This church was all made of wood!
This unique windmill is also made of wood.
This old-fashioned ferris wheel is also made of wood!
Here is little shed shaped like an upside-down cone.
After we visited the museum of old things, we wanted to play on something that was new! The parks in Romania have trampolines!
Romania has black squirrels instead of gray!
And good climbing trees!
We could peek out of the top of the tree!
They have playgrounds that are much like ours also.
The buildings in the city are decorated with angels and other statues.
Here is the flag of Romania - Red, Yellow and Blue!
This building had a dome made of glass - we had never seen that before!
When the men were digging in the street, they found the ruins of old building underneath! We would like to be archeologists and find ruins underground!
Here is another Romanian church.
The church had painted flowers all on the outside.
The Romanians also decorated their floors with little tiles to make pictures. These are called mosaics.
They were having a waltz festival. A waltz is a pretty dance like Cinderella did with Prince Charming!
Our hotel in Romania - we have stayed in a lot of different hotels!
