Start up the hill.
Looking back down at the morning fog in Redwood Valley
Break time for tea.
I never know. Salamander, Skink?
Taking a break in the sun.
Rattlesnake rock? I don't think so.
They grow 'em big around here!
Looking down towards the meadow.
My spot for the end of this day.
"The One" set up.
Highway 101 off in the distance.
Getting it together for Black Bean Soup using my cat food can alcohol stove, aluminum foil wind screen and titanium pot.
Morning of the second day.
A small spring in the meadow. Perfect for collecting water.
Katadyne water filter pump.
Weather going downhill!
Remains of bear scat.
Moving on up the hill.
Starting to rain. Found a spot that looks like it won't puddle.
Vestibule extended over my gear.
And then the rain drove me inside.
Vestibule protecting my gear.
Looking at the ceiling and rain drops. It was a long afternoon, evening and night in the tent while it rained and blew.
Woke up to a layer of snow!!!
Vestibule with snow just beyond!
A local arrived to let me know I was infringing on his space!!
Packed and moving on.
Coming back down towards the meadow.
Pretty day coming on.
Getting down below the snow level.
A warming sun coming out.
Drying stuff out. The foot of my down sleeping bag did get wet during the night.
Great weather has returned but my three days "on the mountain" have come to an end. A great test of my set-up.
