Frescoes at Ajanta may not be technically frescoes (Pantings done on wet surface that absorb colour). They are tempera (Paintings done by using animal glue and vegetable gum mixed with the paint pigments to bind them to the dry surface)
Check every inch of cave is painted, Walls, Cealings, and Pillars too.

Cave 26 - Reclining Buddha, lying back in preparation of nirvana. You can see the people on earth in sorrow below and celestial beings in heaven (rejoicing) as Buddha prepares his journey from Earth to Heaven.
