Sierra Huichol Trip

Corrie Sample joined Diana and me on a week-long trip to Mexico, where Pastor/Pilot Dagoberto Cirilo flew us in the mission plane to visit the fascinating Huichol people. It was an educational adventure with therapeutic benefits for me! See www.amistadinternational.org for information about Karen Kotoske and her wonderful organization that has been reaching out to the Huichol people since 1980.

A Weekend at The Ranch & Daddy's 90th Birthday

The first part comes from my sister Lanita - a typical weekend while visiting our parents. The rest shows the joys of celebrating my dad's 90th birthday resulting in the biggest family & friend reunion we've ever had. Even though as kids we called him "Mean ole' Daddy," he loved us, taught us to work hard, to be dependable and to stay out of trouble. And by example, he showed us the joy of serving others. I thank God for my wonderful father. Thanks to all who came to make this a special day for my awesome dad! July 18, 2010

Caribbean Cruise

During December 3 to 13, 2009, thanks to my very nice mother-in-law, Diana, Daniel & I joined her for the Family Reunion Camp Meeting At Sea Cruise. We boarded the Holland America Zuiderdam at Ft. Lauderdale and stopped at the Bahamas, Aruba, Curacao, Panama & Costa Rica before returning to Florida. It was an adventure in which we enjoyed seeing many new places and a variety of cultures. The camp meeting music and messages were very good also.

Jerry Dennis Matterhorn Scout Trip 1974

Jerry and Darryl Dennis accompany Mark Williams on a scout trip for taking a youth group backpacking in the Sierras. They start at Twin Lakes trailhead near Bridgeport, California and make a 60-mile loop seeing places such as Peeler Lake, Kerrick Meadow, Benson Lake, Smedberg Lake, Sawtooth Ridge, Matterhorn Peak and Crown Lake. It makes a great week-long trip, with a wide variety of scenery to enjoy.

1971 Pack Trip

First pack trip I went on, led out by Reuben Hubbard and Bill Hilliard. Other adults were Alan Munsen, Harold Canell and Joseph Ramus. We met at Pinecrest Camp and rode by truck to Wrights Lakes, then 20 young people and 5 adults hiked north about 4 miles to a pair of small unnamed lakes. We learned wilderness survival, edible plants, campcraft, orienteering and other backcountry skills. TP was rationed out and called "Deposit Slips." We made day hikes to Rockbound Pass, looked for a downed bomber and briefly swam in an icy creek. A Conference film crew came to take promotional footage of our activities. We never saw what became of it.
