2011 April Baisakhi -Time Espanola

Deg, Teg, Fateh! The Baisakhi weekend celebrated by the Espanola, New Mexico Sangat. Saturday - Meditation on the Sword - Jai Tegang, and decorating the Gurdwara. Sunday langars, Nagar Kirtan with gatka, and Gurdwara including Sangat honorings for seva and children's program. Wahe Guru!

2009 March 29 IKC AP & APS Dashmesh Sadan Rainy Day

Sat Nam. It's been drizzling or raining a lot of this week. This day the IKC Akhand Paath started in "Booth 15" of the Akhand Paath room. Less rain in the morning. Barely a drop when we took the scooter in, then really wet on the way home. Some sites around the city and Dashmesh Sadan in the rain! Sun came out late in the afternoon....perfect for an evening walk.

Sat Nam. Ruby's farm is just a couple fields over from Dashmesh Sadan. Such a nice walk and a few sites to see, with her 'Auntie' in one of the pics. Solar electric to bring up water from their well. Nice. Several cows. Chuppal (flip-flop) broke on the walk home...

Sat Nam. LOTS of crows around on this visit. Also they were changing the cloth of the Nishan Sahib pole.....the sevadar is hoisted up in a chair that is controlled by someone at the handle of the 'roller' at the bottom of the pole. Pretty high up!

2009 March MPA Parents Program & Harimandir Sahib

Sat Nam. MPA Annual Program & Parents night 2009. So fun to visit campus. Lots of time to visit, see the beautiful art exhibit by students, give some hugs, and take some pics of the program. Lots of awards. Ending with the staff bus home to Amritsar and then by rickshaw to GT. Next morning Amrit Vela at Harimandir Sahib. Note: most of artwork here is by Siri Dharam K, Ratnavali Kaur, and Gururaj S. The kirpans are all hand made by students!

2009 March Patiala visit

Sat Nam. My train 'sleeper' compartment from Amritsar to Patiala I had to myself! The first few campus pics are of the Interfaith Center and admin buildings at Punjab University. I stayer with HBK at the Guest House there. The Palaces of Patiala are well known and constructed by its past ruling Princes. The lShish Mahal last few pics in the series has now been converted to a national sports center and chatted with a visiting coach from UK. Dr. Balkar was kind to drive around, and then to his home "Sukh Nivas" for dinner with family. Beautiful Bhags - Gardens - throughout Patiala...and such nice Patialvis!

2009 March Hola Mahalla Week

Sat Nam. What a busy week. Lots of guests! Ji aia noon! Welcome! Pics in the Amrit Vela at Keshgarh Sahib and Bhoora Sahib where we did seva. Then around APS on another day to see the sights. Pics of Darbar Sahib with the crowds in town. And pics of the Nihang Nagar Kirtan and festivities, MPA upper classes students who were visiting, and beautiful Taragarh Sahib where 900+ Bhram Gyanis meditated and were in GGS Ji's army there. Of the 5 forts in APS, it commands the full view of the area and great strategically. Notice the colors of Holi! And, a now all red purse! Photos over the week...

Professor Manjit Singh's Trust grounds have beautiful gardens. They have a wonderful mali - gardener, there. Located atop a hill area on the edge of the town, a meditation dome is there as well as medical facilities.

Chandigarh, one of the 2 capitol cities of Punjab state, is known for its gardens. This is the Rose Garden, covering acres and acres. We were fortunate to be there 'in season!' Last couple of shots are at Ruby's family home in Chandigarh.

2009 March Anandpur Sahib outings

Sat Nam. Outings on 3/6 and 2/ 25 first to a historical house from the Sodhi lineage. Can see Sis Gang Gurdwara from the roof....and watch your step! Also, to 2 local hotels, Holy City, and Kisan Haveli. The later built for offical guests during the 300th Khalsa Anniversary in 1999. Notice scaffolding on water tower construction. Plus, some original artwork in the Haveli.

2009 Feb - March - Rishikesh & Parmetan Niketan

Rishikesh is a mecca for westerners. There are many many yogic lineages and ashrams located there. The hilly area is known for meditation area for saints and sages for thousands of years. Featured here is Parmetan Niketan Ashram which is a very large global organization and was hosting an International Yoga Festival. Nestled right next to the famed Ganges River which pilgrims come to to dip and feel blessed. Some photos of Swami Puja Ji - their sage in residence who teaches around the world. Also some pics of a cultural night which local gov't officials come by. And, their nightly 'Aarti' along the Ganga of prayers and chanting.

2009 February 28 Paonta Sahib

Sat Nam. On the road, we stopped in Paonta Sahib at the Gurdwara there - actually multiple Gurdwaras in the complex, on the banks of the Jamana River. I hadn't been there in 20 years - Greatly built up, still very beautiful, but not so 'sleepy' as it was. Guru Gobind Singh lived here for 4.5 years, and wrote prolifically, including Jaap Sahib, 10th Guru Swayaas, Chandi-di-Var, all penned here. Also, a small Gurdwara where he had turban tying contests - Dastar Asthan! One of the sevadars who showed us the langar kitchen was for years a sevadar at Hemkunt Sahib ...

2009 February - Keshgarh evening - Sword of the Khalsa

The sword crafted by Jot Singh of Millis Massachusetts, was presented to the Takhat on the 300th Anniversary of the Khalsa in April 1999. It is kept in a glass case in the room behind Guru Sahib that is open, with Guru Gobind Singh Ji's and other historical weapons. This evening it was taken out for our group to view. Wahe Guru!

2009 February 15 Golden Temple Gardens

One favorite things to to do is stroll the walkway that surrounds Harimandir Sahib. It is fairly new, beautifully landscaped with lots of flowering plants, trees, and places for the Sangat to sit. There are still lots of new changes and improvements each time I visit. View the backside and life around the Golden Temple complex.
