"No, I don't think it is. Similar shape, but unless this pic is not showing it in full bloom, the petals look different. (flower nerd!) Look at the new photo called "butterfly" I'm about to upload..."
Jeannemarie Tracey
"There's still no hint of a flower on these so far (20th June) which is odd as most other plants have flowered early this year (2011)."

"I'm not convinced that this is Goatsbeard as it lacks the radiating leaves ("sepals") under the flower. Apart from being yellow instead of blue the individual petals look identical to Chicory. Are there many different flowers with this five-saw-toothed tip arrangement (and particularly in thirteens)?"
colin russ
"Again, the petals are identical in shape to those of Chicory but this one has multiple layers above the base 13."
colin russ
"My Latin isn't that good but I don't see the word 'yellow' in there - lutea is clay AFAIK. If you plug this into GoogleTranlate it gives the bizarre interpretation "Crested Lark Clay". Where do botanists get this nonsense? :-)"
colin russ
"Ah yes, Buddleja, that's the name I was trying to think of :-)"
colin russ
"It's what you called "butterfly bush" :-)"
colin russ
"Yes. My guess is bee balm, but the odd edges of the leaves make me hesitate. The bud itself, though... Sending another pic."
Jeannemarie Tracey
"Oh, just looked at your caption above. You noted the "double". Good job! :)"
Jeannemarie Tracey
"Yes, I have a similar one. More blue than purple. Yours look like a "double" version. I just looked for a pic of mine, but it looks like I didn't shoot that. And they're done for the year here now."
Jeannemarie Tracey
"And the flowers go on for weeks and weeks, which is nice."
colin russ
"Aquilegia! (same thing) - well done! Thanks for that one."
colin russ
"Yes, I've heard that name too. If you let the seed pods dry right out they go a sort of shiny slightly golden white."
colin russ
"Big sprawling thing - pure white flowers...?"
colin russ
"I've really no idea what this is but I'll let you know if it flowers."
