A Brilliant Sprinter, built in Tottenham, 1937.
This Brilliant Sprinter was built in September 1937 and first sold on 13 Oct 1937 (for GBP 5, 10s, 3d) to Frank Pentney, a dealer in Doncaster. It was bought from Pentney in 1937 by Francis Thomas Bullock, who used it in competition (as pictured above), before using it for commuting. It was acquired from the original owner's son in 2006 and subsequently renovated.
When acquired it had a coat of thick blue paint on it. It was repainted by Cycleart in California in classic black and white enamel. It has been restored with the following period-correct (or appropriate modern) components: Chater Lea headset, hubs, pedals, and crankset; inch-pitch chain and sprocket; Lauterwasser handlebars; Swan-neck handlebar stem; GB Hiduminium front brake; modern rims and Brooks swallow saddle.
