Building complex for teaching/counselling of speech defective children. It has a set of 'one room kitchen flats' that can accomodate a child and a parent. These were used as additional lodging for the participants of the conference.
A section of the participants sitting inside the aforementioned building after dinner. The liquid inside the bottle (on right) is a non-alcoholic drink!
The person on extreme left is a linguist from the University of Sringar, Jammu and Kashmir. He travelled the entire length of the country (from north to south) to attend the conference
Cultural show. Notice the earthen vessel (a resonant chamber) used as a musical instrument.
An interesting architecture
A boat is about to 'land' on the shore. Note that another boat (on right) is readying to land. It was evening; quite a boats were returning from the sea. It reminded me of flights over mumbai sky waiting for their turn to land at the busy CS airport!
Fishermen drawing (parking!) a boat onto the shore near the Velli Tourist village
There is a strip of sand (about 50m wide) between the lake you see and the sea (behind the camera). A lot of boats are loaded with the sand manually dug from the 'lake'. The location is Velli lake.
The labourer on the right is loading the boat with sand hand-scooped from the velli 'lake'. The man on the right is removing water accumulated inside the boat. In the background is an overhead water tank. The VSCC is not very far from this water tank.
