Port Resolution Yacht Club - Tanna Island, Vanuatu
Port Resolution was named by Captain James Cook on the 21st August 1774. On the 22nd August 1992, the people of Port Resolution opened the P.R.N.Y.C.; "The Port Resolution Napikinamu Yacht Club". Over the next two years they developed the people’s project to establish simple but comfortable cabins for guests to come and stay close to their village. As Werry, the Manager of the Yacht Club will tell you, “No phones, no faxes, no email, no ski boats, no banks, no shops, no infrastructure to speak of, in fact, you name it and we haven’t got it! But what we do have is clear crystal waters, virgin jungle, cabins made of wild cane and thatch, fresh water, pure coconuts, pristine coral gardens, wild flying fox, volcano, fumeroles, hot springs, warm trade winds and the joy of sharing our land with our friends, that'sVanuatu.”
